Are you looking for MOT Test in Darlington?

As per the DVSA mandate, every vehicle in the UK over 3 years old needs to pass an annual MOT Darlington. An MOT check determines whether your vehicle adheres to different environmental and safety standards put forward by the government.

Douglas Tyre And Autocare. is a DVSA-certified facility conducting MOT Darlington for Class 4 vehicles (cars, small vans, caravans up to 3000kg). Our qualified technicians have the knowledge, certification, and tools, plus use the latest technology to conduct detailed and accurate MOT checks.

You can call us on 01325 381242 for a booking or to know more about our MOT check.

Book an MOT online

You can also book an appointment for your car’s MOT online. The steps are simple. Enter your vehicle’s registration number, and select your preferred time slot.

How do we conduct MOTs?

During our MOT Darlington, we will first check MOT history of your vehicle to determine whether it has any persisting issues. After that, our technicians will conduct a thorough assessment of the following car components:

Braking system

A well-functioning braking system is crucial for your on-road safety. Our technicians will check the efficiency and the output of the braking system to make sure it is safe.

Exhaust

We will assess the condition of various exhaust components such as catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, and oxygen sensors. We also thoroughly inspect the vehicle’s exhaust to make sure it meets the exhaust emission standards.

Tyres and wheels

We will also inspect the condition of your car tyres and wheels. Our team will check the tyre tread depth, which should be a minimum of 1.6 mm. In addition, we will assess the tyre pressure, structural integrity, along with the condition of the wheel rims.

Lights

During MOT checks, our technicians inspect the headlights, tail lights, indicators, brake lights, fog lamps, etc., to make sure they function properly.

As well as these, we will also assess the following components:

  • Seatbelts
  • Number plates
  • Doors
  • Body exterior
  • Suspension and more.

Types of MOT certifications

VT20: Our team will issue the VT20 certificate if the components of your vehicle meet all the legal requirements and standards. This certificate proves that your vehicle has passed the test.

VT30: A VT30 certificate denotes some of the car components are not functioning as per the required standards. It is also known as the MOT fail certificate.

MOT retest

After the completion of the assessment, we will issue a VT20 or a VT30 certificate, depending on the results.

In case a minor fault is detected during the test, your car will still pass the test, but a so-called advisory note will be issued, informing you of the issue and advising you to get the problem sorted as soon as possible. The minor fault will remain in the system, and will be checked during the next MOT Darlington test.

In case your vehicle fails the test, we will explain the issues that are responsible for the failure.

You are then no longer allowed to drive the vehicle until the repairs have been carried out within ten days. After the repairs the vehicle will need a partial re-test. If you let us carry out the repairs within the mentioned time frame, the partial re-test will be free of charge.
